I'm Just Here for the Food

One of my heroes is Alton Brown. He takes a no non-sense approach to cooking and breaks it down into a methodology that everyone can do. I really appreciate this technical take on it, rather than the fancy-smansy overboard cuisine approach.

I recently scored his book, I'm Just Here for the Food. I really enjoyed it, but unfortunately I can't employ half the recipes he provides in the book.

Luckily he advocates not so much recipe formulation but cooking styles and methods, which have been a huge help.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get into cooking. Additionally, a good way to kill some time on your lunch break and to hone your cooking skills at work is to search for Good Eats or Alton Brown on Youtube. He's a great guy and most of his stuff is online. Unfortunately, being in Japan, I can't watch some of it due to Script content or whatever.
