Yeast Hunting

I thought I would take a break from my current work at home tasks and post this fascinating piece of information.

I'm currently on the hunt for some wild yeast around the apartment.

What I've done is rig this jar with some water and flour.



My hope is that there are some wild yeast in abundance inside and will start to colonize in the flour. Should they decide to make it home, I'm gonna make a nice sourdough bread out of it. (Yes, I did remove the lid to allow yeast to come in, the lid is on in the picture since I was shaking the bejeesus out of it to mix it well)

I don't know how well it will go since I've read that city air isn't exactly ideal for yeast cultivation. If it doesn't work, I'll try cultivating elsewhere.

I should know within 3 days or so.
