I go to the doctors about once every 30 days to get medicine for my asthma. I'm a chronic asthmatic but it doesn't really interfere with my life thanks to modern medicine. I can still jog and sprint (maybe even more so than non asthmatics?) but my doctor checks me every month to make sure my lungs are still attached to the inside of my chest and to line his own wallet. I'm sure if people only went to see him when they were actually sick, he may not be as well off. He's a good doctor (most of the time) so I certainly don't mind going to see him. Besides, no medicine, no me. It's that bad.
Sometimes we shoot the shit about our favorite beers or my hometown, but sometimes he's morbidly serious about my "condition". What is my condition?
So a month ago, feeling the need to assess my terminal condition, my doctor took my blood to test, for the second time this year, to make sure I have more than a month to live. I went in today and found out that...
I'm perfectly healthy. He almost seemed a little disappointed. HA! Yes, I have a little pudge around me waist and not rail thin like some Japanese men. But I eat a lot of healthy food (a lot being the operative word there). I love veggies, beans, tea and the like. I rarely eat meat. In fact, I could go weeks without eating meat and not really notice it. I don't drink more than 3 beers a night (WHAT??????). I try to exercise regularly, but more so now that I'm not as busy as I was during September and October.
All the necessary levels look good in my blood. My total cholesterol, both good and bad, is borderline low. I dunno if this is good or bad though?
Anyway, that's that. :::cracks open a beer::: Here's to you Doc.
