Set Sail

At last, tomorrow is the day of travel. I have to be at Komatsu airport for an 8:30am flight, land in Narita, Tokyo at 9:45am, haul ass at a good clip in Narita airport to get on my next flight for 10:45am and then endure the awful 13 hour plane ride.

I really hate sitting in a plane for 13 hours. When I was a young kid, I had no attention span whatsoever and the school wanted to put me on riddelin, or however you spell it, to calm my "ADD" down. My mom said I don't have ADD and I don't need meds. When I ride in a plane for 13 hours, I feel very much like I have ADD and can't hold still for more than 5 minutes at a time. This makes for a very long flight. It doesn't matter if I bring books, music, movies, a computer, the end result is the same: I just can't sit still. I am jealous of those who can sleep the whole flight without once waking up.

It looks to be smooth sailing all the way to Vermont, however. Once I arrive in Vermont, I have a typical, but long overdue, American meal waiting for me: Hamburgers and Magic Hat beer. This should be enough to keep me going for another 4 hours after landing.

The only downside to this trip is that it is only me going. We waited too long to buy tickets for the summer travel season and my ticket alone cost $2,600. So, Ayu will stay here and hang out with her family and see some friends. The lesson learned from this: BUY THE TICKETS EARLY! Which we will do from now on.

Well, I'll post from the other side. we got a new camera and the pics look better. Here's a test pic I took yesterday (I've been testing it out for a few days now).

As you can tell, I really love the light green rice patties. There's something soothing about watching the rice sway and dance in the wind. The smell isn't half bad either!

To conclude, here is a quote from Bilbo Baggins:

"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."
